We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and your donation is tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. The New Jersey Devils Youth Hockey Club, located in West Orange, New Jersey, has been serving players age nineteen and younger since 1988. We are dedicated to creating a child-centered youth hockey environment where youth of all ages and skill levels can learn teamwork, sportsmanship, commitment, self-esteem, discipline and responsibility.
Our 2020 Shamrock Classic Tournament will be held the weekend of March 13-15th at the Richard J Codey Arena in West Orange. The Shamrock Classic is a cross and half ice tournament designed exclusively for our clubs youngest players. It's a great way to wrap up the hockey season and participate in fun activities while raising awareness and collect donations. Funds raised at this event sustains our Sled Hockey Program for players with mobility impairments and our Financial Assistance Program.
Our Sled Hockey Program, established in 1999, is designed to open the sport of ice hockey to children and adults with mobility impairments including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, brittle bone conditions, and amputations. Our players' families are often on a tight budget because of medical and therapy bills, time lost from work, the cost of special equipment, the need for accessible housing, and the burden of long-term care. We are committed to keeping this program as inclusive as possible, and thanks to the generosity of our donors we are able to provide this unique opportunity to our community at no charge to our participants.
The Financial Assistance Program allows families experiencing catastrophic illness, job loss, or other significant financial hardships to keep their children on the ice. With donations like yours, this season the NJDYHC has been fortunate to be able to assist 10 families in need.
